How I got started in Dog Training.
After my 4th Rottweiler passed away, I am now without a dog. Something that's never happened to me before. At one point, I thought I was going to be a Rottweiler Breeder. I did Breed one time. I was very grateful to only have 2 Puppies. I did keep all 4 of them until the day they died. I quickly found out, I am not the breeding type. After three days of not having a dog the house, the house was very quiet. So I started my quest to look for a dog that needed help. I was just looking to foster a dog. I went through all of the local shelters. In the area, The last one I went to was D.A.W.G.
D.A.W.G. had indicated to me that there was a Dog with another local trainer that was not having much success. They asked me if I could handle him. His name was TAMA, and Tama had quite a few concerns. He was a big strong dog, that was very possessive over many things, food, bed, anything that he could claim he would. I was able to socialize him properly, and after interviewing quite a few people, I did find him a great home.
Then I got a call from the head dog Trainer from DAWG, he stated they had another Rottweiler that was redirected towards the trainer. (DOG WAS TRYING BITE the TRAINER)
He was very concerned for his safety, this dog was extremely dog reactive, along with possession reactive as well. I picked up OTTO on Friday. By Sunday morning I was asking the dog representatives to meet me at the park to observe their different dogs. Needless to say, they were beyond happy. I was able to find the right owner for this dog his name was OTTO
I kept doing this for quite a few years for DAWG.
Then I started working with the county dogs, the Red Label dogs that they were trying to kill. I did this for several years as well, And I started to make a name for myself.
Over the years I started to refine my methods. Things kept on Getting easier as time went on.
I consider myself to be a non-avoidance trainer, something that you don't see, most everybody else is going to avoid your problems and work around them.
Helping people understand what causes inappropriate behavior And then fixing it, Has been my Biggest passion in life and still is!
The methods I have developed are very streamlined and simple.
My end goal is to make all dogs try to play with each other. Understanding the importance of having people understand where inappropriate behavior comes from, and what proper communication between owner and dog is key. It makes the training for the dog, so much easier on the dog, and it lessens the need for big Corrections.
I look forward to helping you and your dog, become the best they can be, that is my goal!
